My friend Meggon tagged me with this one a few days ago. I’m finally writing it up. This actually turned out sort of funny. I looked for the closest book and found one of Erik’s physics books just above the computer monitor. I managed to finish the tagging task without falling asleep or spacing out into no where…this is what usually happens if I try to think about physics! I’m hoping to post some pictures tomorrow before we leave for Thanksgiving in Minnesota. All the kiddos had fun in the 2 inches of sticky snow we got last night. There’s something so refreshing about the first snow. All beautiful and clean and not annoying yet!
Here are the rules for this tag…
* Grab the book nearest you. Right now.
* Turn to page 56.
* Find the fifth sentence.
* Post that sentence along with these instructions in a note to your wall.
* Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.
“A distributed force per unit area F (x,y,t) acts on a flat stretched membrane in a direction normal to its surface.”
Physics of Waves by William C. Elmore and Mark A. Heald
Hmm….who to tag and pass this on to?
I’ve been a bad blogger recently. Sorry readers. But, as I told my friend Jess the other day–I’m not going to write about nothing and bore us all to death.
This past week I’ve been trying to slow things down and do more listening. Listening to what, you ask? Actually, it’s been listening to the kiddo blab and babble on and on. I swear I’m living with a teenager! And not an annoying kind of teen that says the word ’like’ every two syllables. It’s been so fun to watch Girlie’s little brain soak up everything around her.
This morning we went to Target to buy stuff we really don’t need and look at other stuff we can’t afford to buy. On the way into the store she was saying moon over and over again. I said, yeah, honey…the moon comes out at night and we like reading our book about the moon. It wasn’t until she said. “THERE’S THE MOON!” when we came out of the store that I realized she’d seen it on the way in and was trying to tell me. I was pretty much in shock from her saying “there’s the” in front of the word ”moon.” That was her first ever three word sentence. We headed to the grocery store next and she said “THERE’S A BOON!” (FYI: boon means balloon). I double checked to be sure I had the right kid. She’s growing too fast for me, which was evidenced in the cute butterfly shirt that’s now, as of today, looking like a belly shirt. Everyday I turn around and she’s saying something new (door, go room, yellow ball, a cow, a goat, and on and on). I’m trying to soak it all in…especially the “wuve you’s” I get each day.
I thought I’d end with a picture of Girlie taken this morning with one of her favorite buds, Mighty. (Two other new words learned just today was ‘Migh-ee’ and ‘Baw-bee’ for Pawsie). I can’t say that the meows are enjoying the kid these days. She’s quite obscessed with laying on them and pulling their tails. I don’t feel too sorry for them as they can just jump the gate, run away or climb to a higher spot. Silly cats.
Ugh. Colds are usually pretty horrible, but this week I’ve seen the wrath of a true head cold. Monday started with a horrible headache, what I thought was a migraine, that lasted all day long. When it came back Tuesday and Wednesday I figured it was a bit more than that. Finally, last night my sinuses decided to try and get rid of whatever was in them unsuccessfully. So…today I’m sorta blowing my nose and my face feels like it’s a balloon. I’m thinking that it’ll eventually get better and go away…right?
Even with this cold its been such a great week. I mentioned in a comment earlier that Erik had three phone interviews lined up. Monday he chatted with Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL (this is pretty much a Chicago suburb). The interview went well and they called and asked Erik if he would come down there to meet with them sometime soon! Yay!! I’m so proud of the hubby
We’ll all be going there for a few days to check out the neighborhood and campus. Erik is giving some type of class lecture/teaching something while visiting and he’ll also have his official interview.
My prayer request for Erik to receive at least one interview throughout this whole job process has been answered. It’s above and beyond what we expected and we’re both pretty happy so far. Obviously, I’d be more happy if/when he gets a job offer, but for now I’m feeling really grateful for all that’s happened. So keep on praying friends for the right fit for us and for Erik’s interview to go well. (We’ll be there either the week of Thanksgiving or one of the first two weeks of December–we’ll keep you updated).
Finally, to end this random post of information I’ll update you on a few more organic things we’ve tried out. I don’t remember what the score was–you’ll have to do a little research to find my old organic posts if you’re really curious!
I’ve noticed the orange cleaner and using a washable towel has really brought the paper towel consumption down. Today I bought some paper towels made out of recycled paper–we’ll see how they hold up. We also bought some “earth friendly” toilet paper—but I won’t go there
Girlie has been loving a few of the soups we’ve tried and I got a new Black Bean one to try out as well. Of course they weren’t as good as my homemade chicken noodle soup from last weekend. We chowed down and really liked this batch of soup. Maybe it was the organic CSA carrots that made the difference?
I bought an organic/natural shampoo to try with the kiddo and so far so good.
All in all we’re discovering that when we can buy something that’s organic on sale we’ll do that. Other things we’ve been doing is getting deli meat instead of the packaged stuff. I’ve noticed that it’s soooo much better tasting and I’m sure it’s better for you.
One last question for some of you. I’ve been drinking the Swiss Valley milk from Woodmans here in Madison. I thought it was free of hormones, but I can’t seem to find proof of that on the label. Anyone know if it’s really hormone free milk? I sure hope so, because it’s the cheapest!
Wow…looking back on this post I can see that it’s time I take some more meds to unclog my brain. Many apologies for the boring informational overload. I guess that’s what happens when I don’t post in a few days, huh. One last thing to share is our weekend agenda. I’m going shopping sans hubby and kiddo all day Saturday with some friends. It should be a great day! Poor hubby is leaving here tomorrow at 5 am to drive with a group to Chicago for a conference. I’ll be thinking of him as he gives a talk to a large group of people (wow, he’s brave!) He’ll be home late that night and probably crash from exhaustion. I’m hoping I crash from the exhaustion of finding a ton of good deals. Happy weekend everyone!
P.S.
I’m so glad I tricked you all so badly with my last post, hee hee hee. I’ll have to try that again sometime!
My friend Jess tagged me yesterday. I’m supposed to tell you readers 6 random facts/interesting things about myself. I guess it’s also supposed to be something that’s “kreativ” about myself. Darn. I’m not very creative, even though this tag came with an award. I’ll give it my best, here goes!

1. Well, I guess one of the most creative things I’ve ever done was make half a quilt. Why half? I guess it’s just half because I’ve never finished it and never seem to have the time nor a sewing machine. I made the top of the quilt for Erik for a wedding present. It’s pretty neat-o and he really liked it. I think he’d like it better if I actually finished it. Maybe I need to buy/borrow a sewing machine and while I’m at it, learn how to sew the backing on a quilt?
2. My first name is really Susannah. No one really calls me by my given name (or spells it correctly). I’ve just always been Susie. I’m named after two of my Grandmas. Anna and Jane (Jane is my middle name).
3. I almost had two minors in college. I was (I think) one or two classes away from a women’s studies minor…that would have been cool. I still laugh about one of the articles I read in one class I took. It was all about how women don’t need men for anything and we do fine just by ourselves. Can you say CRAYZEE. I mean, gulp, who would kill all the spiders?
4. I love taking baths. Ah…they’re so relaxing and warm and did I mention relaxing! My dream one day is to have one of those huge jacuzzi kind of bathtubs. Someday I tell myself…someday
5. I have bad teeth. You wouldn’t know by looking at them, but really, they’re so annoyingly attracted to getting cavities. Ugh. I also hate the dentist…a lot. I remember growing up as a kid and I would always brush and take care of my teeth, but my little Brother, Andy, would never brush (gross…what can I say, he was a little boy and boys hate clean stuff). Everytime we’d head off to the dentist he’d come out of the room with a big grin on his face…no cavities….again!!! ARRRRGGG. I’d have four or some ridiculous number needing filled. I should also add that I had to have braces and glasses/contacts. My brother never did the braces thing, but he has a pair of glasses he uses once in a while.
6. And the last random fact about me……..I’m pregnant with baby number 2!!
Gotcha!!! Ha!
The truth is…I’m going to be an AUNTIE!! My brother/sister-in-law (Luke and Juli) are expecting their first kiddo early this summer. We’re pretty pumped and I’m restraining myself from buying too many baby things as much as possible. That might all go down the tubes when they find out what they’re having in a few months. I’m sorta hoping/thinking girl. It would be nice for Girlie to have a good friend and cousin, don’t ya think?

I officially tag these people to keep this thing moving! Sherry, Greg, Regan, Natalie, Justin and Meggon.
I’ve talked about Dad B on my blog before. What I haven’t mention yet is that he’s written a devotional book! The family is very excited and proud of this awesome accomplishment. This past weekend an article talking about his new book, Faith Appetizers, was printed in the Rochester Post Bulletin. You should check it out here. There is also a new wordpress blog set up for the book and I’m hoping at some point to become a genius computer whiz who can figure out how to get the cover of the book onto the site. Here is what Jo (Mom B) has set up and it looks great. Please comment and if you’re interested buy this very funny, thought provoking, honest, and faith building book.
P.S.
Feel free to be super jealous of me when he becomes rich and famous for being on the Best Sellers List.
