Yeah, I’m sooo tired from our weekend festivities. Life with a kid changes things up sometimes. Especially when your cousins and little bro come for the weekend and they’re used to staying up late and sleeping in late. Erik and I tried keeping up with the young’ns by staying up until 1 a.m. the first night and then 11p.m. the next night. It wasn’t the late factor that was bad it was the babbling, toddling alarm clock going off at 7 am the next morning that really sucked.
Although Erik and I didn’t get much sleep over the weekend, we certainly had a great time with everyone. Friday night we headed out to play some lazer tag while our friend Palotti babysat (thanks again for that!) We played for a little over two hours and our poor yellow team was often getting its butt kicked by nerdy teens that play too much lazer tag. There was this kid we called fro (because, go figure, he had a fro) who was ridiculously good. He jumped all over the place and was constantly moving and shooting and never getting hit. It seemed like every time I turned around he was there to shoot me and then he was gone. Arg. We all managed to get him a few times and have a lot of fun running all over the place shooting at people as the place played Pirates of the Carribean music in the background. The only thing lacking was Johnny Depp….sigh.
Later that night we played around the world ping pong, kuub (our new backyard game), we also ate a lot of junk food and then E and I finally couldn’t function any longer and headed to bed. Miss Girlie woke us up bright and early so she and I headed to Target for a diaper run and starbucks….oh yeah….starbucks baby, now yer talkin’. It woke me up so nicely and I thought when I headed back around 9:30 that everyone would be starting to move and wake up….I was wrong. Erik had even gone back to bed. So, I tried to keep a 13 month old quietly playing while the lazy brats all slept. That obviously didn’t work for long so everyone was up by 10 and we had some great monkey bread (cinnamon-sugary dough balls…aka, Lard) for breakfast (or in Girlie’s case it was lunch). After the breakfast sugar high everyone minus the kiddo and I headed out for mini- golf. My brother Andy kicked all their butts at mini-golf and then they came back for the now awake Girlie and still tired me. Next stop was downtown to check out State Street and the Capitol and our something like fourth cousin, Danna (whatever she’s family and we love her) came along too. We did a bit of shopping and then took the “country” cousins out for some ethnic food at Kabul an Afgani restaurant. I think they all did well experiencing something new and they even seemed to enjoy it. Conveniently, they forgot the leftovers in our fridge when they headed for home though.
State Street ended with the ladies hoping for some more shopping so we made a stop off at the mall which is larger than the local town my family is from. Erik and my bro Andy seemed to be in excruciating pain due to being forced to be shopping in a mall. Erik opted out to watch Girlie play in the children’s area while Andy attempted to follow the girls for a while. He lasted about 10 minutes before his eyes glazed over and then he ditched us. Saturday night was nice for some time at home. We played more Kuub, ate more junk food and watched a good flick called 21. It was very good and I reccomend it.
Today we headed to church at 10 am. I think the young’ns about died when we woke them up Girlie sat on them and woke them up about 8 a.m. Church was very interesting today because the group that went to El Salvador on a mission trip (including yours truly’s hubby) talked during the service and shared some music and stories. It was nice to see so many photos up of the trip and hear from the other folks that went. Overall it was powerful to hear their stories of tragedy and hope and fun to see Erik singing songs in Spanish! Girlie didn’t sit at all today in church, it was nuts…she refused to stop moving and when I tried taking her to the nursery she screamed her head off…ah well. After church we headed home to eat and a few of us collapsed into comas sleep. As I type Girlie is snoozing away and the rest of the gang is finishing off their tour of Madison by doing a little rock climbing at a local place called Boulders Climbing Gym. I’m not too much of a climber as I cry like a baby when I have to deal with heights.
Well, that’s my ramling and long weekend recap. It was fun to have Brittany, Jennifer and Andy here. We don’t get to see each other often enough and Girlie loved having some for people to oohhhh and aaahhh her cuteness. I declare that this 4th annual cousins weekend was a success. I’m now off to sleep away the rest of my weekend and not eat for the next three days!

The little one loved the extra attention this weekend.
Here she is with her Uncle Andy and Cousin Jenny hanging out on State Street.

Erik and Jenny enjoyed trying on these overpriced pieces of crap sunglasses…and they looked like dorks. Of course I had to take their picture to capture this “moment.”
My cousin Brittany heads off to college this fall. Holy moly I remember when she was born. Britt’s so tan and skinny and beautiful (can you tell I’m jealous). Jenny’s nice and tan too…they’ve got the good Soiney ‘tan’ genes. I’m not sure what happened to mine!?!!?
Well, looks like Lisa and Meggon are getting restless for bloggy updates! I have to admit I’ve been getting restless too with my lack of blogging. I would love to have an hour a day devoted to this blog and my hygiene but ya know, life just happens. Oh yeah, and there’s that whole being a Mom and that childcare business thing, and the stupid dial up internet thing…yadda yadda blah blah, I know, I’ll try harder ladies
Erik has been put back together (again) and isn’t in too much pain. He looked quite handsome last night in a suit! What kind of suit you say? Get your minds out of the gutter people, it wasn’t his birthday suit. It was actually a crazy expensive suit for his bro’s upcoming wedding. We headed to Mens Wearhouse where we waited foooorrrrrrrreeeeeeeeevvvvvvvveeeeeeeerrrrrrrrr to get some help. Seriously, we stood there looking stupid and wondering how to get his skinny butt into a nice suit for 15 minutes before finally getting the nerve to interrupt some lady already helping customers to ask her how long we’d have to wait for help. Thankfully, we got the nice saleswoman to help us out and she found a good suit for us while flitting back and forth between all the waiting and slightly grumpy customers. By the time you count the alterations and all the dumb ‘we don’t live in Minnesota’ sales taxes it was a whopping $375 buckeroos. I swear I heard our bank account crying…oh wait, that was Erik. I’m just happy he’s officially going to own a suit now and we’re really hoping he’ll use it for job interviews this winter/spring.
What else is happening here in the Mad City, Republic of Madison, Wisconsin? Just the normal things this week. Work, intense frisbee games, binge drinking, cleaning, chasing Girlie, missing our friends the Igls who just moved to the land of goodness (Minnesota of course), trying to figure out how to get Girlie to stop unplugging things and then putting the plugs in her mouth, cleaning up cat puke/hairballs, giving away our cats, watering the garden and even doing a little cursingweeding, and the occasional dip in either our baby pool or our neighbor’s nice 3 feet deep pool. Ahhh, life is busy but overall pretty darn good.
So, thanks for stopping by and checking the site out today. I’ll have a lot to report after this weekend
when my brother, Andy, and two cousins, Brittany and Jennifer, come here from Minnesota for our fourth annual cousins weekend. It should be a fun few days of spending tons of cash (crap), eating pound after pound of not so good for you food, and doing all sorts of fun activities like laser tag, rock climbing, swimming, mini golf and anything else our little hearts desire! It should be quite a weekend.
Here’s a nice parting shot for you. Girlie was chillin’ out in her carseat on our way to a frisbee game. Can you tell she’s all pooped out from a full day of walking around the house and unplugging things?
Here’s the big BREAKING news from the Sus Q household.

My poor hubby’s nose met with another guy’s skull last night at our frisbee game.
As I type he’s at the doc getting it reset (and hopefully nice and numb with no pain!!)
The other guy is resting today with a bad headache and getting over his concussion.
Ah…life with this guy is never a dull moment!!
So, July is now officially in full swing for me. I’m working 4 days a week and have all the childcare scheduling and families figured out. Things are nice and settled…..ahhhh. So, without further ado let me introduce you to Timothy.
Mr. Timothy is 2 1/2 and a very sweet little boy…oh wait, excuse me…I mean very sweet big boy. He is talented at saying things like “I can do it” and “I am big.” Timothy used to come to my daycare before Girlie was born and I watched him grow from a 10 month old to a big 1 1/2 year old. Man, time flies! He’s a great addition to my little group of kiddos. I’m very happy to have him back in the gang.
Another big childcare change is the addition of Simone. Here she is hanging out in the pack n’ play.

Can anyone see the little smushed face peeking at Baby Simone? It’s a bit hard to see it, but Girlie is looking through the mesh of the pack n’ play at Simone or should I say “Bae-bee” as Girlie calls her. Simone’s little toes are especially interesting and Miss Girlie likes to touch them and giggle. It’s been nice having a three month old around the place again. I’m enjoying the extra snuggles and cute little baby cooing noises and smiles.
That’s all the additions to report for the time being. I don’t really plan on having any more join the crew for a while. After all…I do have to try and stay sane (and legal) while doing this job!
Just so you all know, Paws the cat is brewing up a post for sometime this week. I’m sure you’ll all be waiting in suspense!
