Ah, there’s nothing like coming home after being gone for a week. We had a great Christmas in Minnesota and yes… the girlie was very spoiled. In fact, I think she’s going through massive attention withdrawal. Alas, there are no Grandparents around to smile and proclaim how amazing her every goo, grin and poo are.
As we walked in the door we were greeted by two anxious looking cats hoping for some attention. I’m not sure if they were excited to see us finally walking through the door, or it could have been a look of extreme guilt after their crazy Christmas antics. Our poor beaten up and now even more fake looking Christmas tree was demolished. More branches were broken off and the rest were flattened against the trunk. The lights were still somehow attached but thankfully there were no electrocuted or hanging cats. It was an interesting sight to see the tree, random clumps of cat fur on the carpet and twenty random cat toys spread around the living room. Our very sweet neighbor loaded our cats up on catnip toys for Christmas. It looks like they had a holly jolly Christmas. Well, we’re happy to be back and happy to report that we’ve taken down our poor defeated Christmas tree. We’re thinking of going with the real tree look for next year, I can hardly wait… and I’m sure the cats can’t either.
I’m off to Minnesota everyone.
Did I mention I have 10 days off (okay, I’ll stop rubbing it in!!)
I might try and write a bit over Christmas, but I might not be able to move after eating so much good food! Hope you have a very very very Merry Christmas. See ya in 2008!
I’m afraid that I’m looking forward to Christmas for the wrong reason today. Once Friday at 5 hits I’m off to Minnesota to visit family, leaving one crazy and stressful week behind me in Wisconsin. I’m really excited, but what really makes me happy is thinking about how many days off work I’ll have. Hold on….I’ll go check.
I’m back and I’ve got at least 10 days off…yippee…I’ll be right back.
Okay I’m back from dancing around the room (quietly, of course, because the kiddos are napping)
I guess what’s keeping me from having good Christmastime reflection and cheer is the huge list waiting for me when I get home today. It looks a little like this….
1. Wrap Presents
2. Sign up for dance lessons
3. Wipe off spit up from pants
4. Repair broken Christmas tree
5. Clean fish tank (yeah right, like this will ever happen)
6. Package up Christmas Cookies and breads and deliver
7. Repair broken Christmas tree again (kick cat butt)
8. Pack
9. Kiss hubby
10. Take a shower
11. Change diaper(s)
12. Finish sending out Christmas letters
13. Email friends…yes, I do have friends, I promise.
14. Buy last minute gifts
15. Laundry
I think I might just go on strike instead of complete my list.
On second thought I think I’ll put on some Christmas music, dance around so Jannah laughs at me, kiss my hubby again and then finish my list with a smile.
It couldn’t go any worse than my commute this morning. It usually takes me 10 minutes, today it was 25 minutes. Did I mention I moved about 100 feet in 15 minutes and watched the stoplight change to green 5 times and not move? The only reason I survived without having road rage on the semi infront of me was the bag of Christmas cookies I brought with me and my quick thinking radio switch to NPR for a little classical calmdown music. Thank goodness for sugar and Bach!
blogs! This is why I’m writing this blog. I have no doubt that you’ll all love these sites. They are much more entertaining than mine and one even has contests and gives away great prizes to the winners! Enjoy these sites, I am pretty much addicted to them all
My friend Jess at Sassy Pants. What can I say but she makes me laugh and is such a great person to be around!! She’s also got very helpful thoughts about dealing with the many issues of parenthood and is so real and helpful when it comes to struggling with her faith. Jess really makes me think and gives me great perspective.
Her site is www.jessdager.wordpress.com
Jess got me introduced to a lot of fun blogs and my favorite addiction these days is to The Pioneer Woman. She’s so funny and I look forward to reading about her life on the praire everyday. Her site is www.thepioneerwoman.com
Another daily read of mine is at Motherhood is not for wimps. ‘Damomma’ as she calls herself is so funny and even has a book out you can buy!
